This is a broad commercial seat, not a narrow ledger role. A Christchurch expe business needs someone who can sit with operations, build the numbers behind each project, and still roll their sleeves up when the finance team is short.
You will model pricing across programmes, build detailed budgets with the operational staff who used to own that work, and look at margins with the people who can actually change them. Alongside that sits a live systems project: due diligence and support on a new ERP, plus room to use AI where it makes dashboards and analysis faster.
Month-end is shared, not owned end to end. You will help the team hit a working-day-ten close, support wash-ups, and step in on year-end IFRS reporting when it is needed. The rest of the week is commercial: fees, surcharges, stakeholder questions, and the odd transactional job that keeps the Financial Accountant and Management Accountant moving.
If you like a mixed bag, and you would rather improve a process than protect one, this is that role. The business name stays confidential until you are ready to talk.
The Company
A small team with global footprint. You will work with operational staff, the Financial Accountant and the Management Accountant. Personality matters here. The useful version of this role is curious, plain-spoken, and comfortable switching between a pricing model and a cutoff.
The Role A usual stretch of work looks like this:
- Model pricing for programmes and test how changes land on yield and margin.
- Build detailed budgets with operational staff, as that work moves into accounts.
- Partner on margin analysis, and work through payment fees and surcharge settings with the right stakeholders.
- Support due diligence and implementation of a new ERP, including how trip, commercial and finance data should connect.
- Help the team hit the working-day-ten close, including wash-ups and occasional month-end support.
- Support year-end IFRS reporting, and pick up transactional work for the Financial Accountant and Management Accountant.
- Use AI and modern tools to build dashboards and shorten analysis the team currently does by hand.
- Various more transactional work to support the wider team when required
You will bring:
- A background in management or commercial accounting, with real time in budgeting, pricing or margin work. A degree or progress towards CA is useful, not a gate.
- Comfort with systems. You can hold your own in an ERP review, and you like fixing how data moves, not only how a spreadsheet looks.
- A digital habit. You already use AI, or you are keen to, for dashboards, analysis and the repetitive parts of finance.
- Sound interpersonal skills. Operations will only hand over budgets if they trust the person asking the questions.
- An analytical eye and a practical streak. You can support a close on working day ten and still come back to the commercial question afterwards.
