As the Commercial Finance Manager, you’ll join an established organisation in a permanent role focused on improving commercial performance and supporting better business decisions. Reporting to a senior executive, this is a broad, hands-on position spanning management reporting, budgeting, forecasting, performance analysis and commercial planning.
Working closely with business leaders and operational stakeholders, you’ll turn financial and business data into practical insight, challenge assumptions and help identify opportunities to improve revenue, margin and profitability. You’ll combine strong financial discipline with a forward-looking approach, while leading a small established team and strengthening reporting, systems and processes.

The Role
- Deliver periodic management reporting across profit and loss, balance sheet, cashflow, KPIs and business performance, supported by clear commentary and recommendations
- Lead budgeting, forecasting and longer-term planning, including scenario modelling, sensitivity analysis and regular review of performance against plan
- Act as a key commercial partner to senior leadership and operational stakeholders, providing financial insight, constructive challenge and decision support
- Analyse revenue, margin, costs, pricing and profitability to identify trends, risks and opportunities across customers, services, products or business units
- Develop business cases and commercial models to support investment decisions, growth initiatives, resource allocation and performance improvement
- Improve reporting, dashboards, systems and processes to provide timely, accurate and decision-useful information across the organisation
- Lead a small team while maintaining strong financial controls, reporting integrity and effective delivery of core finance activities whilst still being part of month end processes
Your Profile
- Chartered Accountant or equivalent preferred, with senior commercial finance experience gained in a broad, hands-on role
- At least five years’ finance experience, including meaningful exposure to management accounting, commercial analysis and business partnering
- Strong budgeting, forecasting, financial modelling and performance analysis capability, with the confidence to interpret data and provide practical recommendations
- Advanced Excel skills and strong systems capability across Microsoft Office and modern finance platforms, with experience developing dashboards and management reporting advantageous
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to translate financial information, influence decisions and build credibility with non-financial leaders
- Commercially curious, proactive and comfortable working across both detailed financial analysis and broader business issues
- Hold full, unrestricted working rights for New Zealand and be based in or actively relocating to Christchurch
