The Opportunity
This is Evnex’s first dedicated Finance Business Partner role. The finance team has built the foundations: actuals reported as an integrated three-statement set, a 13-week cash flow forecast, and a new 12-month rolling forecast model being implemented now. Your job is to pick that work up, own it in detail, and take it to the next level.

You will report to the senior finance manager and work closely with the CFO on the forecast model, the annual budget, and the quarterly board pack. You will also partner with leaders across the business, turning financial analysis into decisions and following through on the actions agreed. The finance function is striving for global best practice for a business of its size, and AI tools are part of how the work gets done every day.

This is a step-up role for someone who has already done the work and now wants ownership of it. In your first two weeks you will build your own 90-day plan, and there is a clear path to grow as Evnex and its finance team scale.

The Company
Founded in Christchurch, Evnex designs and manufactures smart EV chargers for homes and businesses across New Zealand and Australia, including the Evnex E2 range and the X-series. More than 20,000 Evnex chargers are now installed across the two countries. Its mission is to make electrification effortless, and the clean energy transition is the reason the company exists.

Evnex is a Series A, private equity backed company. The business is growing, holds significant inventory, and reports quarterly to its board and investors. It is a small team solving a hard problem, where most people do more than their title suggests and everyone is expected to own their work.

The Role
  • Take ownership of the new forecast model and run it as an integrated three-statement, 12-month rolling forecast, working closely with the CFO on its development and build-out
  • Run the annual budget with the CFO, and the monthly to quarterly reforecast and variance analysis, with commentary for the leadership team
  • Work alongside the CFO in preparing the quarterly board pack
  • Run the weekly 13-week cash flow forecast cycle and variance analysis with the senior finance manager
  • Partner with department leads on detailed financial analysis that drives business improvement
  • Improve models and data flows from Business Central and HubSpot, using AI and automation to reduce manual work
  • Support the senior finance manager with month-end analysis, a small and capped part of the role

Your Profile
  • CA or CPA qualified, or close to it, with at least three years’ finance experience
  • Hands-on experience doing forecasting, budgeting, and variance analysis yourself, not only reviewing it
  • A working understanding of how the P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow statement link
  • Strong Excel and financial modelling skills, with models others can follow
  • Able to explain financial concepts to non-finance people in plain English
  • Curious about AI tools and keen to use them as a core part of the work
  • Experience in a manufacturing, distribution, or inventory-intensive business is desirable but not essential
  • Unrestricted working rights in New Zealand. Evnex is unable to offer sponsorship.
