As the business continues to grow, they are looking for an experienced and motivated Freight Operations Supervisor to join their Christchurch operation and lead from the front.
About the Role
This is a hands on leadership position responsible for overseeing the day-to-day running of the yard and warehouse. You'll be leading a small team, coordinating freight movements, managing workflow priorities, and ensuring the safe and efficient handling of freight.
The role will suit someone who enjoys being on the floor, supporting their team, operating equipment when required, and driving high standards across safety, service, and operational performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee daily yard and warehouse operations
- Coordinate inbound and outbound freight movements
- Lead, train, and support warehouse and yard staff
- Ensure freight is loaded, unloaded, and stored safely
- Monitor inventory and stock movements
- Drive compliance with health and safety requirements
- Maintain accurate records using warehouse management systems
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and workflow
- Experience within warehousing, transport, freight, or logistics
- Previous leadership experience, or a senior forklift operator ready to step into a supervisory role
- Current Class 2 Licence and F Endorsement
- Strong forklift operating experience within a commercial environment
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
- Sound computer skills and experience with warehouse management systems
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities
