About the Role
This is a key leadership role responsible for driving health, safety, and wellness strategy across the business. As a trusted partner to both senior leaders and frontline teams, you will play a pivotal role in embedding a strong safety culture while ensuring compliance, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.
You’ll be involved at both a strategic and hands on level, influencing decision making, supporting project delivery, and ensuring health and safety practices are effectively implemented across sites and operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and implement the organisation’s Health, Safety and Wellness strategy
- Partner with leaders and operational teams to provide practical, risk-based advice
- Drive a strong safety culture and support continuous improvement initiatives
- Oversee risk management processes and ensure critical controls are in place and effective
- Lead incident investigations, corrective actions, and organisational learnings
- Manage and continuously improve health and safety systems and processes (IMS/HSMS)
- Coordinate internal and external audits, ensuring ISO and legislative compliance
- Analyse performance data and provide insights to inform decision-making
- Support contractor and supplier health and safety management
- Ensure compliance with New Zealand health and safety legislation and industry standards
About You
- Proven experience in a Health & Safety advisory or business partner role
- Strong knowledge of NZ health and safety legislation and best practice
- Ability to influence, coach and build strong relationships across all levels
- Experience working in operational or project-based environments (e.g. civil, construction, infrastructure)
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and provide insights
- Proactive, adaptable, and solutions-focused approach
- Relevant H&S qualification (necessary)
