This hands-on part-time role at Simple Machines offers the perfect blend of structure, variety and visible impact. With predictable Monday, Wednesday and Friday hours (8am–2pm), you’ll enjoy genuine work-life balance while playing a central part in building a positive, high-performance workplace culture through strong office administration.
You’ll gain valuable exposure to professional administration, including managing office budgets, in a global, multi-jurisdictional tech consultancy during an exciting period of growth. The Role
- Serve as the friendly, professional face of Simple Machines’ Christchurch office, being the go-to person for all office matters and keeping daily operations running smoothly
- Open the office each working day, prepare the breakfast spread and expertly coordinate catered lunches three days a week while carefully managing dietary requirements, budgets and last-minute adjustments
- Lead warm, seamless onboarding for new team members, preparing welcome hampers, ensuring starter packs are ready and integrating new starters into payroll systems
- Maintain a well-organised, efficient and welcoming office environment, managing supplies, equipment and facilities while liaising with building management and vendors
- Coordinate team-building events (quarterly and yearly) and support Health & Safety compliance and building-related matters
- Handle key administration including supplier setup with Finance, accurate invoice checking, expense tool uploads and purchasing laptops for new starters
- Support the coordination and logistics of the exciting new upstairs office fit-out, helping deliver a smooth and well-organised transition
Your Profile
- A warm, professional and friendly personality with strong customer-service skills and a genuine desire to make people feel welcome and supported
- Excellent organisational skills and sharp attention to detail — especially when coordinating food, rostering and managing multiple dietary needs and preferences
- Reliable, proactive and confident working independently, with the ability to manage a varied workload and solve problems as they arise
- Previous experience in office coordination, administration or a similar client-facing role is highly regarded
- A collaborative team player who thrives in a high-performance environment and enjoys contributing to a positive, professional workplace culture
