Apollo Projects is a nationwide design and build construction company delivering complex, high-quality projects across New Zealand. For more than 25 years, the business has built a strong reputation not only for the projects it delivers, but for the way its people work together to get them done.
At the heart of Apollo is a down-to-earth, collaborative culture. They look for good people who are passionate about what they do, curious enough to ask questions, willing to challenge thinking and keen to find better ways of doing things. People who enjoy working as part of a team, take ownership, bring a positive mindset and don’t take themselves too seriously tend to feel at home there.
Relationships have always mattered at Apollo. Whether it’s with clients, consultants, subcontractors or each other, the focus is on building trust, doing what they say they’ll do and working through challenges together. Their values, including “own it, solve it”, a glass-half-full mindset and having fun along the way, are reflected in how the business operates day to day.
That people-first approach extends beyond Apollo’s own team. The business is committed to creating a positive impact in the communities it works in, supporting initiatives across youth sport, water safety, helping families in need and community projects throughout New Zealand.

The Opportunity
This is a broad Systems Accountant role sitting at the intersection of finance, systems and data.
Working closely with Finance, Quantity Surveying and operational teams, you’ll play an important role in ensuring Apollo’s financial systems, reporting and data remain accurate, reliable and useful for the people making decisions across the business.
You’ll take ownership of Jobpac and related finance and reporting platforms, becoming a key internal point of contact for system improvements, reporting and process changes. You’ll also help lead the development of a data warehouse environment, bringing financial and operational information together in a way that gives the business better visibility.
There is plenty of scope to make the role your own. You’ll build and maintain Power BI reporting, improve processes, support system changes, while contributing to projects that make information easier to access and use.
Alongside the systems focus, you’ll remain closely connected to the wider Finance function, supporting month-end and year-end processes, management reporting, budgeting, forecasting, cash flow, audit, tax and statutory compliance.
It’s a role that would suit someone who likes to understand how things work, spot where something could be better and then follow it through.
The Role
Key responsibilities will include:
- Owning and supporting Apollo’s finance systems, including Jobpac, related applications, integrations and reporting tools
- Leading the development, implementation and ongoing maintenance of a data warehouse solution for financial and operational data
- Developing and maintaining Jobpac reporting, Power BI dashboards and other business intelligence reporting
- Turning data into meaningful analysis and insights that support decision-making across the business
- Identifying opportunities to improve systems, processes and reporting efficiency
- Supporting system upgrades, testing, integrations, data migration and change initiatives
- Assisting the wider Finance team with month-end and year-end reporting, statutory compliance, budgeting, forecasting and cash flow reporting
- Supporting tax, audit and other recurring finance requirements
- Contributing to wider finance and business improvement projects as required
Your Profile
You’ll likely bring a mix of accounting knowledge and systems capability, along with a natural interest in how things can be improved.
You won’t be expected to know everything on day one, but you’ll be someone who is comfortable getting into the detail and asking the right questions. You’ll also be able to work across different parts of the business and explain technical or financial information in a way that makes sense.
Ideally, you’ll have:
- A degree in accounting, finance or a related discipline
- Experience working with ERP systems, including reporting, configuration, testing or process improvement
- Strong Power BI capability, including DAX and Power Query, along with advanced Excel skills
- A solid understanding of accounting processes, financial controls, month-end
- The ability to explain technical or financial information clearly to different audiences
- Experience with system integrations, data migration, UAT or change implementation
- Exposure to data warehouse design, ETL or data quality would be advantageous
- Jobpac or another construction or project-based ERP system would be useful, but is not essential
- Experience within construction, contracting or another project-based environment would be beneficial
- CA or equivalent would be an advantage, but is not essential
Just as importantly, Apollo is looking for someone who cares about doing a good job and enjoys working with others. Someone who is happy to ask questions, take responsibility and get stuck in when something needs improving.
